In yesterday’s post, I raised the problem of posts longer than 300 words and how most folks don’t like to read blog posts over that length. The solution? Post Jumps.
Post jump facilities are usually provided within the better blogging software platforms. After writing a long article, the blog author may press the Post Jump button and insert a “More” link at various points in the article. When the article is posted to the blog, this (these) “More” link(s) will take the reader to the next page containing the remainder of the post. By doing this the blogger gives the reader smaller article pieces to digest, making the absorption of the article seem less onerous.
Not all blogging software has the Post Jump feature, though. But if post jumps are not available in the blogging software, the blog author could just simply break a long post into a series of shorter posts with each piece posted on consecutive days.
